Backyard Dancing

Back again with the Ok Go and You Tube mini obsession!

Loving the greek dancing and fight sequence at the end! Oh, and the song is pretty good too!

Ok Go!

Knowing how I'm behind the "times," I've finally managed to learn how to post videos to my blog.

So my first pick is one of my fave videos by Ok Go. It makes me almost want to date a nerd!

The video is awesome: proof that you don't have to spend millions of dollars on pyrotechnics a la Britney (Toxic) and Backstreet Boys (can't think of the video to date..but its awful! They're power rangers or something...)

In the Thick of It

So its been 2 and a half months and after lots of planning but changes, I have seen a little bit of the west of Europe and a little bit of the east of Europe. I thought I would share a few of my pictures from my adventures avec toi. Just hanging out with some men in uniform at the infamous Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin.

Forget about some of the most monumental moments to happen in history, Michael Jackson dangled his bebe here! In Berlin, Germany

Greece Pics

I would have to say this takes the cake for the most kick ass patio ever. In Santorini, Oia.

Moi at the Parthenon with my best Zeus pose!

This is our tour guide Andy. He always ends up on a platform or pole and hands down, has the funniest party faces!

Ios - Far Out Beach Resort ---very South Beach, very cheap and very fun!

Pics

This is a place in Santorini called Oia at Sunset. Its a pretty gorgeous view.

I heart Greece

Hey Y'all,

Currently in Santorini writing from a net cafe.
Greece is amazing!

Flew into Gatwick, slept in the airport on plastic chairs and in a Starbucks for 8 hours, flew into Athens and got swindled at my hotel. I'm fine, just a little bit more poor.

Headed to Mykonos and saw some Italians in thongs at Paradise beach. The thing about Mykonos is that if there's a platform, someone is dancing on it. Screw dinner. Let's dance on a platform! If you like Italians, they vacation in Greece and if you put on the soccer song from 1994, they go bananas.

Also, Mykonos has no intersections or street signs. Its just a whole bunch of winding alleys. You can go to the club and then go across the alley way and go shopping.

Then headed off to Paros, which is windy. Learned how to play some backgammon and was fed dessert!

Then Ios, which is my favorite island so far. Same thing as Mykonos but they have some weird names for bars: Fun Pub, Slammer bar, Disco 69, Flames, etc. Saw a fire display which was really cool. The weather is warm and slightly breezy and lots of action by the pool. Some guy tried to trick me into thinking he was poor, hadn't had anything to eat and lost all of his money. I didn't give him money so he gave me a really hard time to the point where I was starting to get angry (i.e. Hulk...I'm getting a little angry...haha). He then told me he was just collecting money for a pool tourney! GRRRRRRR!
Camping there is 8 euros and we stayed in the coolest little hut. It was very tiki style.

I am now in Santorini. What they say is true: some of the most amazing sunsets ever. Last night was the last night of our tour, so we got to the bar ready to party and the DJ is playing Counting Crows, REM's Losing my Religion, etc. I was so depressed! So I requested Jamirioquai and he didn't know who that was! Damn greeks! So I just said dance music and then we all went off the hook...dancing on bars, closing the place down and drinking many shots!

The theme song here is Love Generation and everyone loves that hips don't lie song by Shakira. If I have to hear that song one more time, I'm going to spew. Sorry Ruby!

Anyways, the food is amazing and cheap. Gyros for 2 euro, Heineken for less than 2 euro. I have not been eating vegetables for the past week and a half.

I am off to Crete after this to meet up with a friend from TO and am looking forward to that and having some good calamari.

Then its off to Roma where I'll be camping and then seeing the Amalfi Coast. Then back to Rome for 3 more days, up to Bologna, Modena (home of ferrari and Luciano Pavarotti), Venice, Firenze, Verona, Pisa but now I'm thinking Cinque Terre.

I still have money, I haven't gotten lost and I haven't gotten anything stolen and haven't lost too much control (although I do have a few bruises! hahah).

Have met some amazing people from all over the world: South Africa, Australia, New Zealand.

Feeling a bit more relaxed and will try to get some pictures on here when I can.

Ciao Ciao

UW GNR

Ah, the annual Great Neighbourhood Race funding for the United Way. Great Race. Great Cause. Great fun. Last year, Team "Where My Girls At?!" got eliminated from the race, as Chin so eloquently says in a response to additional punkage written by Al:

'... but they posted a team that came in dead last. LAST. wtf is that?'

Well this year we had a new team and a new name (Sir Chix a Lot). Yes, we were "disqualified" last year but this year? 8th Place baby (not 16 as it may look). Not talking smack was a good thing. But now, I'm bringing on the smack! Na na na na na na! Hey those are the first two letters of my name. How fitting.

One Red Paperclip...

So. I found out about this fabulous Canadian named Kyle McDonald who decided to barter a paperclip on Craigslist, whose consequent barters eventually landed him a house. Check out his wicked website here. I personally like the KISS snowglobe trade. Who would have known Colin Bernsen was such an avid collector?!

Wow. I should do this. Baby needs some new shoes!

Sign Language

Boys and Girls. Its finally here. The day you have all been waiting for from the ever rambling Natty: I have officially lost my voice. It all started after talkingor rather, screaming to friends over a loud concert I was at on Friday Night. Not to mention a few Steam Whistle beers and a dance-off at a Dance Cave later on. My voice gradually deterioated to ally cat status on Saturday, however still mangeable.

Fast forward 12 hours later when I attempted to tell my mother "Good Morning." Barely a whisper. You would have thought someone was scraping a fork on the floor. "What Natalie?" she said. "Good Morning," my voice attempted sounding like a voiced dubover of a bad kung fu movie.

Needless to say my mother was delighted and attempted to tell me all of the things she was upset about with me. I.e. "I'm really worried about your safety going to Europe, etc."

I have tried various remedies: Gargling with salt water; Green tea; Chai tea; water, water, water; a vegetable induced drink laden with ginger at a vegan cafe and yet still I live in silence, or rather through written communication channels and exaggerated hand and facial gestures.

This is frustrating to no means. However, this may mean I can take a sick day at work. Oh goodness, I hope! Laundry beckons!
